TALKING HEADS ALBUM REDESIGN
The Brief
Design a special edition vinyl sleeve that represents the themes and ideas of an album.
The Approach
I chose to redesign one of my favourite albums, Remain In Light by Talking Heads and convey the complex and vague themes of the album. The album speaks a lot about people being somebody they’re not and the idea of a dull world without art. So with those concepts in mind, I took the approach of creating a narrative and character behind the sketches and crumpled up sticky notes. A person feeling stuck in their mundane office job where they day dream of starting a band and creating music. They sketch out their ideas and design their future album cover with the only things they have at their disposal — on sticky notes with black, blue, and red pens.
